The results of studies substantiating the use of pyrolysis oil (PO) from waste rubber tires as an alternative plasticizer for polymer-modified bitumen (PMB) are presented. Based on the analysis of the group composition and the principles of component compatibility in the "polymer–plasticizer" system, a promising group composition has been proposed, including: 60-70% aromatic hydrocarbons, 15-25% saturated hydrocarbons, 10-20% resins, no more than 5% asphaltenes, with a content of light aromatic hydrocarbons of 20-35%. To ensure the stability of the composition, two-stage distillation of the feedstock after recycling has been proposed. It has been established that the introduction of pyrolysis oil into the PMB composition increases low-temperature ductility by 2.5-3.2 times, lowers the brittleness temperature, and increases elasticity to 95%, which confirms that PO performs the functions of a compatibilizer and plasticizer. The prospects of its use for the production of effective and environmentally friendly PMB within the framework of circular economy principles are shown.
