The article outlines the tasks that the government set for the USSR’s water supply and sewage systems during the post‑war five‑year plan. It presents the main ways to address these tasks and also shows the issues that were assigned to various research and design organizations. During those years, domestic experience in the design, construction, and operation of water supply and wastewater systems began to be widely used. The norms, design deadlines, and technical conditions for system design were revised. Maximum consideration was given to the specifics of local conditions during the design and construction process in order to identify the most cost‑effective solutions for the construction and operation of individual structures. It was possible to set many important tasks and solve them in the shortest possible time in order to restore the damaged water supply and wastewater disposal systems, as well as to create new and improved systems.References
